Employment Opportunity - Trainer

 PURPOSE

ONWAA is seeking interested individuals for an employment opportunity. This position will be until March 31st, 2025. This position requires an individual with knowledge of Income Assistance and Homemakers programs being delivered on First Nations. They will assist with researching, planning and delivering of in-person and training programs to First Nations Administrators and support staff. A solid work ethic and the ability for travel is a must.

 

 PARTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Post secondary education; preferably in social work, sociology, health sciences or adult education

• 2 years experience training in a First Nation community; OR 5 years experience working in Ontario Works or Social assistance office,

• Experience delivering training to adults, including Webex and other technology platforms that support online training.

 

PARTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop training curriculum and various social assistance related training packages, thru in-person and onsite support and virtual platform environments

• Deliver/facilitate training material(s) to First Nation social service and Hommakers staff and stakeholders,

• Deliver employment and financial assistance on-site training to First Nation employees who are responsible for the delivery of social assistance,

• Conduct on-going training needs assessment,

• Research and interpret social assistance legislation, government policies and trends, and provide recommendations regarding social assistance delivery as the relate to Indigenous communities

• Maintain awareness of new social assistance regulations, delivery policies and best practices,

• Attend various meetings as directed by supervisor,

• Mid-term and final reporting of all training initiatives,

• Contribute to ONWAA’s help desk,

• Maintain proper filing system,

• Prepare statistical, and other reports as requested,

• Communication and develop outreach processes when providing support to First Nations,

• Provide mentorship approach to ensure sustainable program expertise, compliance and delivery,

Salary:  59500-65000 depending on qualifications

Location:  Work from Home arrangements will be made.
