The homemaker’s program is intended to provide in-home support services to individuals who would otherwise be unable to remain at home. The homemaking service is used to assist people, who are elderly, ill or recovering from an illness within their residence through a defined range of services, to remain in their home and community.
Join us for a 2.5-days of Homemakers Training in Toronto, Ontario on May 20, 21 & 22, 2026. This interactive workshop will be divided into 3 components: Homemakers Core, Case Management and Local Policy Development to provide an in-depth overview of the homemaker’s program and services, assist participants in enhancing their case management skills, and supporting the development and implementation of local policies that are reflective of the unique needs of your communities. Here is information on each component:
Homemakers Core
Participants will learn the obligation and limitation of community Homemakers Services under the Homemakers and Nurses Services Act (HNSA). We will provide an in-depth exploration of the application process, mandatory and supplementary forms with interactive case studies and the monthly and annual reporting requirements of the program.
Case Management
Participants will learn the foundational skills needed to effectively support clients in maintaining safe and independent living environments. This session will cover best practices in assessing, care planning, communicasting and coordinating services through homemaker's support. We will offer practical tools, activities, and best practice sharing to enhance services and client experiences.
Local Policy
Participants will learn foundational skills required for development and implementation of local policies unique to their community and specific to the Homemakers Program.
This 2.5 day workshop is intended for anyone interested in learning about the Homemakers program or already working within the program.
