On October 3, 2022, the Ontario Native Welfare Administrators Association (ONWAA) and the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association (NOSDA) signed a memorandum of understanding that commits the organizations to consult with one another on legislative policy and problematic areas where we share interests or objectives in a manner that is respectful of the ONWAA/NOSDA relationship.

ONWAA President Samantha Maracle and NOSDA Chair Michelle Boileau signed the memorandum of understanding at the ONWAA Board meeting in Toronto.

The Ontario Native Welfare Administrator’s Association (ONWAA) is a professional association committed to providing services to First Nation Social Service Administrators in Ontario. Currently, 105 First Nation Ontario Works delivery agents support ONWAA through annual membership submissions. The membership is comprised of Social Service Administrators commissioned to administer social services in Ontario.

The Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association (NOSDA) was formed to develop a co-operative and collaborative approach with municipalities and municipal organizations, to facilitate the consolidated municipal delivery of services in Northern Ontario. NOSDA is intended to create a political forum for reviewing and developing both policies and program delivery issues from a Northern perspective.

In the true spirit of realizing meaningful truth and reconciliation, NOSDA members want to reflect on how each of us can play a part in the journey of reconciliation recognizing that this is an ongoing process of establishing and maintaining respectful relationships. NOSDA members want to work with ONWAA membership so we can learn from one another and develop and maintain a lasting respectful relationship that build a better future for everyone in our communities.

We also believe from a service delivery perspective that NOSDA members need to support people as they move between our communities ensuring they are treated with respect and in a culturally appropriate manner.
